Montecito Canyon Oasis
This Montecito mountain property was overgrown with plants, old sheds, and other random structures (it’s a shame I don’t have Before shots). So much so that when we cleared it all away the former owner wanted the property back! The new owners didn’t know they had Montecito canyon and Pacific OCEAN VIEWS! So our task was to take maximize this new discovery.
Once we had cleaned the “pallet” we constructed a stone patio, with fire pit, waterfall, and a bocce ball court. The rocks above were cleaned out creating an additional “look-out” over the patio. The addition of mulch pathways and drought-tolerant colorful plantings made this canyon lookout a veritable paradise. The selection of low-water perennials included, Mexican Sage of white and purple, Mexican Marigold, Echium, Agave, Nepeta, Duranta and other flowering drought-tolerant plants. The end result is year-round color, fragrance and lush greens. The perfect backdrop for viewing the azure Pacific.
