It's a Garden Getaway Santa Barbara Style.Even garden designers need inspiration from time to time and we have some favorite places that allow us get some space and stimulate those creative juices. In Santa Barbara there are endless places to go and things to do and to see. But, I chose to start with our favorite garden getaway Santa Barbara style: The Grand Dame of Santa Barbara Gardens, Ganna Walska's Lotusland. We love Lotusland for many reasons. This garden, with it's vast variety of garden styles and collections of rare plants is a botanical wonderland. I have meandered the gardens at Lotusland countless times and each visit reveals something new, a garden I had not noticed before.
Lotusland and Sustainability
Lotusland is famous for its sustainable methods. They have been chemical and pesticide free for over 20 years. Public gardens around the country are losing rare specimens due to the overuse of chemicals and pesticides. Corey Wells, Lotusland's Plant Healthcare Coordinator travels around the country training other public gardens on how to revive their plant collections using the natural methods developed at Lotusland.
